When & where is the retreat?

Short answer: April 21-28th, 2024 in Tulum Mexico!

In 2017, I ventured to Tulum for a dear friend's destination wedding, and Mexico instantly captivated me with its charm—the weather, nature, people, food, and the mesmerizing cenotes!

Cenotes: natural sinkholes or underground caverns filled with crystal-clear waters, often used for swimming, snorkelling, and diving, offering a unique and refreshing experience. Resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater, the term originated on the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, where cenotes were commonly used for water supplies by the ancient Maya, and occasionally for sacrificial offerings.

Little did I know, Tulum would become my healing sanctuary in 2023 and the birthplace of Healing Journey Retreats.

Discovering its rich Mayan heritage and mystical energies only deepened my connection to this sacred land, making it the perfect setting for my mental wellness retreats.

When searching for the perfect retreat venue, I sought more than just a typical all-inclusive resort or bustling hotel.

That's when I discovered Dora Resort — a serene oasis tucked away in the heart of Riviera Maya's jungle, a mere 15 minutes from Tulum.

As a true retreat venue, this gem offers a tranquil sanctuary away from the crowds.

Surrounded by lush greenery and breathtaking natural beauty, this eco-friendly haven invites you to unwind, heal, and reconnect with both yourself and the natural world.

What sets Dora apart is its dedication to biodiversity, land preservation, and active community engagement.

From its lush jungle villages to its commitment to cultural exchange, Dora provides an idyllic setting for intentional group travel and fostering mindful communities.

Another highlight of this retreat is the experiential space of AZULIK.

One of the experiences I’m most excited about is the visit to Azulik Uh May, followed by a sound bath healing session in the meditation room, and a 2-course lunch at Jungle Cuisine.

Last year, I visited Azulik three times in a month, and I can’t begin to describe the feeling you get when you step into this architectural masterpiece.

At last, you might ask: is Mexico safe?

We completely agree that safety is the top priority when choosing a travel destination.

Akumal and Tulum are located in Quintana Roo's Riviera Maya, where tourism plays a significant role in these coastal areas, therefore its communities are well aware of the importance of maintaining a safe and welcome environment for visitors.

The growing expat community in the region further indicates a sense of safety and security. More in the caption.
